We get this every now and then. Customer- "I just checked the size on the setting, and it doesn't measure the 20x15 oval that I ordered. Can I get the right size as my stone won't fit in it." Settings never measure the size of the stone. Generally they are smaller to allow the stone to seat into the setting. If it's an oval shape, the prongs don't go to the end of the stone, but set on the side of the stone, so your prongs are not going to measure 20x15mm, nor will the bottom of the setting measure 20x15mm. If you didn't measure your stone prior to purchasing, and based your purchase off the size written on the gemstone box or bag, chances are it is not the correct size, or you may have a deep belly stone that requires a different type of setting. If you're going to set your own stones, it is best to purchase a digital caliper(Harbor Freight has cheap digital calipers) to minimize these errors. "Is it possible we sent you the wrong size?" Of course it is, but it is very rare. Sometimes we'll have the customer send their stone and the setting back to us for us, so we can check it. Sure enough, when we measure the stone, as in the case above, it measures 20.5x15.5mm, even though, the gemstone box or bag it came in, states that it is a 20x15. Returns cost everyone money. So, please check your stone size before ordering.
